What's a Course?
A course is a collection of two or more content modules. The pieces of content that comprise the course should relate to the same topic and be ordered logically.
Here is an example of how a typical course looks:
A few key elements to remember:
- Content modules that are part of a course are clearly marked with a grey band (see above)
- On the "Discover feed" courses will appear as a single content block, not as separate modules
- On the "Channel feed", courses will appear at the same level of streams
How to create a Course
To create a course, click on the ‘Create new’ button, then click on the ‘Create Course’ button.
This will open the course creation tool. Start with writing a title.
After the title, content can be added to the course by using the search bar to find existing pieces of content and by clicking on them to add them to the course. At any time, the order of content within the course may be altered by dragging and dropping pieces of content to their intended positions. Content pieces may also be removed from the course at any time.
Please note that to add a content module to a course, you must be the owner of that content i.e. it has to reside in the My Content section of your account. If you'd like to create new content modules for the course, then they have to be created first using the content creation tool.
Once you're happy with the course you've created, it can be submitted by clicking on the blue ‘Submit’ button at the top right-hand corner of the screen and by selecting the channel into which the course is to be published.
If you have content that has to be read in a specific order by your learners, you can also enable the course order restriction function by click on the toggle that reads "Restrict course consumption for learners".
Once a course has been submitted and published with its order restricted, users will only be able to advance by completing earlier pieces in the course.
